Empowering Communities. Restoring Hope.
FOBUA
Who We Are
FOBUA is a non-profit organization founded in 2017 to serve vulnerable populations impacted by war, violence, and exploitation in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In 2023, we expanded to Canada to help immigrants and newcomers build a better life.
Through community-driven programs focused on education, healthcare, human rights, and sustainable development, we aim to restore dignity and opportunity to those who have faced unimaginable hardship. Whether in the heart of Africa or right here in Canada, our mission remains the same: to uplift lives and create lasting change.
A Mission Born from Compassion
Founded in 2017, Fondation Bukombe et Amis (FOBUA) emerged in response to the ongoing suffering caused by war, displacement, and exploitation in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Our founders—driven by lived experience and a deep commitment to justice—established FOBUA to serve as a voice and support system for the vulnerable and underserved.
From Congo to Canada: Expanding Our Reach
In 2023, we took an important step by officially establishing FOBUA in Windsor, Ontario. Recognizing the challenges faced by immigrants and newcomers to Canada, we broadened our mission to support successful integration through services, advocacy, and community connection. Our work now bridges continents, connecting those in need with those who care.
Rooted in Community, Guided by Hope
What makes FOBUA unique is our strong connection to the communities we serve. We believe that change begins at the local level—with empathy, collaboration, and trust. Whether we’re working with children in Uvira or supporting a family settling in Windsor, we walk alongside them, offering tools, resources, and hope for a better future.
